Default Scion XB 1st Gen-Engine Missing-Coil pack issue - 03-25-2010, 11:30 AM

I hope this forum has some other mechanics on board.

I have a 2005 Scion XB (89,000 miles) and the other night the engine lights came on and it began missing on cylinder #3.

I had new plugs so I changed them, no change.

Took it to Autozone, they ran the OBD and said "P0303-Misfire #3". So switched the coil-packs between #3 and #2 cylinder and now get "P0302-Misfire #2"

This seemed logical and to me it confirmed what I suspected that the coil pack (original) had failed.

I replaced it. But, dang, no change. Still missing. (I did change plugs to the expensive platinum plugs, but I doubt that had any effect.)

So I assumed that maybe I had gotten a bad coil (Borg Warner) from O'Reillys. They gave me a new one, tried it and still missing.

Any ideas?
