Default Turbo Vs Supercharger~ - 04-04-2008, 08:44 AM

So heres the buzz what do you guys think is better for our car the TRD Supercharger or the Turbonetics kit the one I plan to buy push's about 443WHP on the other hand the supercharger is easier to install with less chance of malfunction, I also live in florida where theres tons of rain and water so im trying to figure out what would be best for my scion could i get your guys's feed back on that?

I'd go for the turbo and never look back. It's definitly a bit more complicated but it's a whole different kick in the pants. If you're gonna fork out the cash for boost, you'll probably want to invest the time to understand everything from spark-blow-out to intercooler, etc... When it's done right, it's not problematic.
The supercharger is nice to make the car feel more muscular like it had a bigger block (boost kicks in at lower RPMs). The top end of the turbo is killer though.
It all depends on what you're looking for and how much time/energy you're willing to invest in it. I have nothing against the supercharger though. It's decent for what it is.

Personally the Turbo doesnt leave you limited like the Supercharger either. im sorry but if you weigh out the cost between the Turbonetics kit and the TRD supercharger the S/C nets you barely a full 50 ponies but its instant on torque, no slouch but little more exciting than a Ion Redline. Again without changing pullies your limited for the most part to a particular bracket of boost and even with different pullies you only achieve that boost factor faster.

Where as in the turbo you can make much larger differences with a lot less. I think the S/C should have been an option for the xB IMO. and the tC should have been naturally Aspirated as a 200hp engine to begin with separating it from the Camry kin.

But turbo is where its at for some serios forced induction. the S.c nice for playing on the streets or for those who are not into tinkering with the car as much.

I have the TRD S/C and I am very happy with it, it does what it needs to do and every time I stomp on it it always leaves a smile on my face, the 5o state legal and warranty is a plus for me, especially living here in CAli
