Default Touch-Up Paint for Scratches - 09-21-2008, 01:20 PM

I recently found a small scratch on my tC - about an inch in length and about half a millimeter deep, probably smaller than that. I tried to buff it out using a microfiber cloth and some Meguiar's tech wax but it didn't really work. Is it 'safe' to use touch up paint to cover it up? If not how can it safely be covered/fixed?

The problem is I have an '09 Flint Mica tC, which as you know has purple sparkle flake...so I'm wondering how that works...

I would appreciate any feedback or comments!

Thanks in advance,

Howie

I have an 07 tc with the same color and haven't really touched up scratches but I suppose I would start by wet sanding and then priming it.

I'm probably wrong but I have no experience, have you tried calling any shops for advice?

Cheers

Is it a deep scratch down to the metal? if not you can lightly wet sand it with 2000 or 2500 grit sand paper and than buff. If it isn't deep than you may be able to buff it out with a high speed electric buffer but be careful not to burn your paint..... you can also buy touch up paint from the dealer but it'll look like s*&t

You're exactly right, touch up paint from the dealers is garbage. My Dad bought this pen looking thing for mine and it's horrible. Best thing to do is find the exact color number and buy the actual paint. Look for the how to online, if you use google search a number of things will come up.
